GENERAL INFORMATION
Dress up for the Gala Roaring Twenties Dinner on Saturday Evening
The Roaring Twenties theme for the Guild’s International Convention 2005 commemorates and celebrates that unique decade in America. It was a wild time of prohibition, speakeasies, bathtub gin and bootleg whiskey, jazz, flappers, art deco, the Charleston, Al Capone and the Model-T.
In women’s fashion hemlines were rising and hiplines falling. For evening low-cut and backless dresses embellished with beading or fringe were quite the rage. Also popular were cloche hats, feathers, strings of beads, and art deco jewelry. Men wore baggy pants, collegiate sweaters, knickers, finely tailored double-breasted suits, leather driving jackets and raccoon coats.
Help us celebrate this festive evening dressed as your favorite character from the period or in your favorite “flapper” style. The costume parade will be the highlight of the evening and special prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. Start planning your special attire now!
